Tag Tuesday- Tales From the Riverbank.

A simple tag this week- a page from Kezzy's old school dictionary stuck onto a piece of card and shaped into a tag. I drew my kingfisher and  I used Inktense pencils with water to colour him in.  All other embellishments are from my stash.

Tag Tuesday- green.

Another tag inspired by poetry.  The poem is by Wordsworth, 'The Little Green Linnet' we know this bird now as the green finch.  When searching the Internet for this poem, I also happened across a piece of music with the same title-sorted!! as the kids say.
The poem was adhered to a manila tag and coloured with distress inks.  The music score was coloured with Dylusions spray and dishwasher salt sprinkled on top to give a mottled effect.  When dry, I adhered it to an acrylic bird shape I have had for several years with Decopatch Glossy glue.  Flowers and sequins from my stash to embellish.

Jennifer Hughes, Protected Heads & Bound Feet.

What a great talk on Monday by Jennifer Hughes, if I had had this talk a few months ago, I would have been inspired to use this as starting point for a project.
Jennifer had been lucky enough to live in China for a few years and while there started to collect the shoes and hats,
These shoes were worn by adults, I have put a fifty pence coin by the shoes so you can see how small they are, no wonder the ladies couldn't walk.

The symbols on the hats and shoes have meanings far too many for me to remember, but fish and tigers are a reoccurring theme, the fish to represent plenty and the tiger to frighten bad spirits.

I have only got a few photos , but as you can see how many Jennifer bought along to show us.
One hat Jennifer bought, would have been ideal for wearing when I am on playground duty in the winter, wish I had taken a photo of it.

Tag Tuesday on a Saturday.

I This weeks theme is camping, and I have had some lovely holidays under canvas in Cornwall and Devon.  Now the bones are getting older and I hate the cold, I would love to be able to tour that area in a 'Hippy Campervan'.
A very simple tag this week, with an image from a birthday card bought for my SIL, mounted on a tag covered with a map of Cornwall and Devon.  Using Stazon ink, I stamped the compass onto acetate the quote onto card and words onto tape.(Love the smell of Stazon)  Flowers and buttons from my stash to finish off the hippy inspiration.
My tag is late this week as I have had more problems with my laptop, sorted out now thank goodness.

Tag Tuesday-Diamond Jubilee.

What a celebration we have experienced!
I wanted to use my Coronation stamp on this tag as this was where it all began for our nation.  I applied a  section of a  paper tissue to my tag for the background.  The crown and rosette were cut on my Big Shot and everything else used to embellish the tag came from my stash- cant see any space yet in my cupboards or on my shelves.

366 challenge-June.

A few days late with this months journal spread.  Feeling very patriotic, I used the Jubilee as my inspiration.

I coloured my pages with a soft pastel, using shades of blue in a random manner.
This was then painted over with gesso, which blends all the colours together.  I covered the letters for June with a paper napkin and sealed with acrylic wax.  'Bunting' shapes for my journalling were then stuck to the background once it was dry.

Fabric heaven!!!!!!

I have had a terrible job getting som  fabrics I need for my latest project.  Alan's relatives suggested that I tried Ridley Road Market.   What a great time I had, bought lots of spices for making my curries, lots of fresh fruit and......
from this shop, I manged to get the fabric I needed plus a few other bits, lol!

I have NEVER seen soooooooo much fabric in a shop, (click on the link to take you to their page) I felt as if I was in fabric heaven.  The fabric went from floor to ceiling,  (The first floor had been taken out).  There was yet more fabric out in another room out the back, and above this room, yet MORE fabric.

A room for trimmings.  They were so helpful and didn't mind waiting for me to make my choices.

Here is a very small selection of the fabric, cant wait to go back there again.
