Tag Tuesday- Purple.

I have had problems all week with Blogger, luckily my son was able to sort it our for me late Monday night.
With purple as this weeks theme, I knew I wanted to use the poem 'When I am an old lady I shall wear purple' as my inspiration.  I drew, painted and coloured my old lady.  I made her glasses from card and used the window from an envelope for the lenses.  All other embellishments from my stash.
On the reverse, I printed typed and printed out the first verse of the poem.  As the white was so stark, I used ink pads to add colour.

Tag Tuesday- Spring flowers.

Days late making my tag this week due to my laptop not working.
It was also my 12th wedding anniversary on Sunday, so thoughts took me back to my wedding and honeymoon, which we spent in the Lake District.  While there we went to Dove Cottage the home of Wordsworth who wrote the poem I used in my tag and as it was my inspiration.
I cut the film strip on my Big Shot and printed the daffodil photos onto canvas paper.  I felt that the  tag needed to be kept quite plain.  Mulberry paper string and wooden beads from my stash.  Another tag made without having to buy anything, lets hope I can keep it up, I might then have a bit of space in my playroom at the end of the year!

F.E.T. exibition- Wisbech.

Our exhibition is being held at  the Wisbech and Fenland Museum, a beautiful Victorian museum which reminded me of the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford.
Nickie and I were stewarding the exhibition with Pauline. When we arrived the local newspaper reporter was there taking photos of our work.
As well as our exhibition, the museum has put a mini exhibition on in the library of Samplers
We had a steady flow of visitors throughout the day.
Nickie and I are back there on Saturday when we are having a 'Meet the Artist' day 11-3.  Drinks and nibbles as well.  Free entry to the museum and exhibition.

Thursday continued.

After lunch at Squires a local nursery we went onto visit the Sunbury Millennium Embroidery.  One of the guides explained the history of the embroidery, which had been stitched by 140 local embroiderers.
For the visually impaired there are carved panels depicting features from the embroidery, these had been carved by a local architect
A small section of the 9 foot long main panel., such beautiful stitching!

The gallery is in a magnificent walled garden, and we saw this bug as we were walking round.

Embroiderers' Guild visit.

I have been without my laptop for nearly a week, so have not been able to post about our day out.
We visited the new headquarters of Embroiderers Guild last Thursday, and we were made so welcome.  A cup of coffee and a lovely gallery of textiles which able to examine closely.
One of our members had rung HQ prior to our visit asking for a chance to look at the work of Mrs St Osyth Wood, which they were more than happy to do.
Terry Murphy came down and chatted to us.
Our Branch took part in the Olympic postcard challenge and although most postcards are on display in different venues there was one box waiting to be hung.  One of the strips was one of ours, so a chance to see it all sewn together.
As all the work on display will be changing later on in the year, we shall have to go back again!

Tag Tuesday- Spring cleaning.

Having been away for the Easter weekend to my mother's, I am yet again a day late getting my tag finished.   Like so many of us, I would rather be creating than cleaning, because the family soon undo all that I have done.
A very simple tag, inspired by a book I found some time ago in a charity shop. The cartoon is drawn by Rowan Barnes-Murphy and I have stuck it to a tag that I had painted black.  All the embellishments including the spider from my stash.

Tag Tuesday-Easter.

It's that time of the week again, doesn't time fly when you are having fun?
My tag represents what Easter means to me. I love Simnel cake, all that marzipan! And of course chocolate and as my mother is a very keen gardener; as a child our garden always seemed to be full of daffs, tulips and polyanthus in these colours- Easter/Spring to me!

I cut the egg shaped tag from a box that I no longer needed, photo copied and coloured the info on Simnel cakes with an ink pad. Flowers were some that were already in my stash and some were punched. Flowers were stitched to some lime green organza to add depth and texture. Re-purposed a piece of a broken necklace to hang it. All other embellishments were also from my stash.

366 Challenge.

Keeping my journal up to date-just!!! I have started sewing again after having a time of not feeling creative, so my energies have been going in that direction.  I very rarely write as a feature on the background of my pages but decided to 'go for it' on my Gruffalo page, felt it just needed the verse to finish it off.
The colour for March has been inspired by all the sunshine and Spring flowers and of course with Easter this month had to have egg shapes for my journalling.  Painted pages with lemon and tangerine acrylic paint.  Stencilled with lime green. Added words again too!!
